Inspiring you and making your weeknights easy with simple, seasonal, delicious, pastas Italians actually cook at home!

A little about me and how my cooking has changed and improved since living in Italy. Not exaggerating or being dramatic, Italy saved my cooking.

When I first moved to Italy in 2010, pregnant and newly married, I was a horrible cook fresh from a daily diet of New York City take-out. Additionally, I was insecure and unsure in my cooking. You’ve heard of cooking with love / amore, the secret ingredient that makes everything delicious? Try cooking with anxiety! I made some legendarily inedible meals right under the noses and tongues of my new Italian husband and mother-in-law.

Then everything changed. I learned how to cook like an Italian and now my best meals are made at home with…

  • a basic pantry of essentials I can count on

  • less ingredients but seasonal… which taste better!

  • unprocessed foods

  • simple cooking techniques I reuse and repeat in different recipes

  • ways to cook and eat everything what I would have previously throw-away

Most recipes are plant-based, low waste in the Italian food culture of poverty cooking aka cucina povera. In other words, cooking like an Italian will also save you moolah.

Italian home cooking is not filled with heavy-laden butter and cream beasts so sterotypical of Italian-American cuisine, but is mostly relying on healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil.
