I love, love, love this recipe. Probably make it once a week this time of year. but I must admit I've never quite mastered the art of making orecchiette. They always come out looking like elephant ears. Need to work on my small motor skills.. So I usually buy them!
This makes me so happy!! I usually buy them too, but did make the ones in the photo… you’ll notice they are all a little “unique” haha but they sure tasted good!!
I love hiking in Italy but have only hiked in the Dolomiti and Umbria. Actually for all the time I have spent in Italy, I have never been to Lake Como because I have heard horror stories about how crowded it is with tourists. Surely between November and April, it’s a good place to visit?
This is what I love about Italy (one of the many, many things)… the use and abundance of all kinds of produce. I have no doubt we have turnip greens here, we have turnips after all, but I’ve never seen them. My guess is they’re thrown out or given to farm animals.
That is maddening, Erin! You can practically smell the turnips but you can’t eat them unless you’re willing to dumpster dive or share a pig trough?! That’s it. We are going to find you some cime di rapa….
Oooh I love the bitterness!
Me too! It's not crazy bitter but just right. Ahh.
I agree!

Mmm I love the Dolomiti! Nov to April is perfect. Where did you hike in Umbria? I haven’t been yet!
Around Assisi.
Grazie, Esme! x
When is the least touristy time to visit Lake Como?

It is ridiculous, don’t you think? I am here for the cime di rapa!
We don't have cima di rape in Australia but I've heard great things. I must find them while I'm in Sicily.
Ooooh Jo, you must! I think you will love them! How much longer will you be there?
One more month.
Good ❤️
This looks so good! Stefano's grandma made the best cime di rapa ever.
