Happy birthday to your baby!!! 🥳 and I agree… there’s something so deeply delicious and satisfying (and utterly confounding! 😁) with simple, clean cooking.
Beautiful, Lolly! I can't wait to try this recipe. I love making home made tomato sauce but have only done it by guess. I am very excited to have a real Italian one. Thank you for sharing this and your beautiful village!
Thanks, Rebecca! It was actually a challenge for me to put any measurements to this as I normally eyeball and tounge it to doneness! Seriously - let me know how it goes! Would love to hear! ❤️
Oh, I'm the exact same way! I make a penne with vodka sauce in the summer when we have fresh tomatoes from our farm share up the road. The first five times I made it it was really good and my brother in law asked for the recipe. He is a winemaker and a recipe. follower. To a T! So I wrote up the recipe and later my sister said, "What does 4 garlics mean? How much is 'some vodka'? With this note: 'some milk if you want to, or creme if you have it, or maybe neither, see how you feel'--did you use milk or creme when you made it and we liked it?"
To be honest, since I wrote the recipe and followed it it hasn't been as good. And meanwhile, I love writing recipes for everything! Writing practices, creative practices, food, flower essences. I just don't like them to be set in stone. All this is to say, I am glad you wrote yours out, glad to know that you are like me, and will definitely tell you how it works out. I can't wait to write with you on Saturday! Thank you so much for marking it on your calendar.
haha! Oh no - it hasn't been as good since you wrote the recipe down. Burn it and never look at it again. :-) I'm so in need of a push to get my writing a little more flowy. I saw your class and it's just what I need! Can't wait!
Sugo being the little black dress of Italian cooking is such a great analogy! Happy 13th birthday to your son. I love that his favorite cake is a Sacher. : )

Thank you Erin! ❤️ Right?! It seems counterintuitive but simplicity brings the magic
My Tuscan mother-in-law never added sugar, but finished with a little bit of butter! Magic.
I find this fascinating! I will try it with butter this week! ❤️
I love this sauce!! This is definitely going to be my Sunday evening easy meal this week!!
Belated birthday wishes to your son! We celebrated my niece's 15th on May 11 and she too requested a Sacher torte!
I’m going to give this recipe a try, the next time I need some pasta sauce.
Exciting!! Can’t wait to hear what you think. I love it’s simple, savory-ness
