I do feel lucky, Lynn! I really miss having a massive garden like I did when I first moved to Italy. Now I only grow herbs on my balcony. Do you have a veggie garden?
Iām growing a few tomatoes in tubs, climbing french beans and a few strawberry and raspberry plants. I also have gooseberry, redcurrant, and black currant bushes. Parts of the garden are getting a little overgrown though. Rustic is what I call it. š¤£
Thanks Sheryl! That rosemary bush was like the plant in Little Shop of Horrors! Only matched by the mint. They were like the Godzilla vs King Kong of the plant world!

Di mi di piu about questo riso viola.... Is it in the short grain family, kind of like the "forbidden rice"? Does it keep its color cooked? If so, very dramatic! The French Insalata does not have giardiniera but it does have capers, tuna (all'ollio of course), and lots of herbs.
You had me at capers and tuna and olive oil, Flavio!! š At the restaurants, the color stays and is quite enticing š I havenāt tried yet at home. Letās see how adventurous I get with the rice!!

Your produce is so enviable - particularly the tomatoes! I have yet to find a single tomato in Portugal that tastes as good as those look. And keeping my fingers crossed for a farro salad recipeā¦I had the best farro in Florence this spring (just threw together a salad from the Coop grocery we stayed near) and have been craving farro salads ever since.
Excellent! The traditional cold salad to bring to the beach in Italy is rice, but recent years have made farro salads all the rage in ristoranti and at the beach. I adore them. Stay tuned for insalata di farro š
Oh man! I go to my farmers' market every week, but I can't wait to go the ones in Italy!! Cooking must be so effortless. I've found when we have perfect produce, all we need is a little bread or pasta and that's dinner!

Oh yes! Everyone thinks Canada is super chilly, and it is ā in the winter. Southern Ontario summers are super hot and incredibly humid. š„µ
